PPK Ormawa Ampibi UM Metro Diversifies Moringa Leaves as an Effort to Create Entrepreneurship in the Tanggamus Community

The AMPIBI Ormawa Team (Biology Education Student Association) together with the supervisor lecturer traveled to the PPK Ormawa activity location from Metro City to Pekon Bangun Rejo, Semaka District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. After traveling for 6 hours we arrived at Bangun Rejo pekon. Bangunrejo Village, Semaka sub-district has promising potential for moringa biological resources, the majority of people who work as farmers utilize moringa plants as a food source. Moringa preparations that have been made are moringa tea and kue semprong.

This is a challenge for the ormawa team to provide product innovation to the Bangun Rejo community made from moringa leaves into several kinds of processed products such as moringa noodles, moringa tea, moringa honey, moringa cookies and moringa soap. Activities in this program include several aspects, such as Student Organization Training where students train themselves in organizational management, including time management, communication, and leadership. Furthermore, students learn how to process moringa into various products that have economic value such as moringa noodles, moringa honey, moringa tea, moringa cookies, and moringa soap. These products involve cooking, production and processing skills.

After that, the amphibian ormawa team shared knowledge with partners about marketing and sales strategies for the processed moringa products they produce. This includes online marketing, branding, and local sales strategies. On this occasion, the ormawa team program collaborated with KWT Tunas Makmur to develop processed moringa products. The amphibian ormawa team conducted socialization to PAUD and SD children in Pekon Bangunrejo about the health and nutritional benefits of moringa leaves to prevent stunting and distributed moringa processed products in the form of moringa cookis and moringa honey.
