Mastama UM Metro 2023: Bringing New Students Together in Campus Spirit

Metro, August 30, 2023 – Universitas Muhammadiyah (UM) Metro held a Student Ta’aruf (Mastama) event for the 2023/2024 academic year. This activity is an integral part of UM Metro’s efforts to welcome new students and help them make a smooth transition to the new campus environment.

Mastama 2023 involved more than 1200 new students who took place for three consecutive days, starting on Wednesday to Friday (August 30, 31 – September 01, 2023). This event took place on the campus page I UM Metro with a series of activities designed to help new students adapt to the campus environment, get to know classmates, and gain a deeper understanding of campus culture and norms.

In the Mastama event, 1200 new students were invited to engage in various interactive activities, inspirational seminars, and discussion sessions with international motivators from Singapore, Lembahas, Metro Police, Rector, Vice Rector, Deans, lecturers and seniors. This is an opportunity for them to ask questions about lectures, campus facilities, and daily life at UM Metro. It also includes orientation on Student Activity Unit activities, clubs, and student organizations, providing opportunities for new students to get involved in activities outside of academics.

UM Metro Chancellor, Dr. Nyoto Suseno, M.Si. stated that Mastama is a manifestation of the spirit of diversity and campus hospitality as an educational institution. “We want to provide all the support needed by new students to feel comfortable and excited about undergoing an academic journey at UM Metro. This is an opportunity for new students to get acquainted, share experiences, and form strong bonds with classmates and lecturers,” he explained.

UM Metro continues to be committed to creating an educational environment that supports students’ personal and academic growth. With Mastama 2023, UM Metro hopes that new students can quickly feel part of a dynamic and inspiring campus community.
